Panjim: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) vice president Sunil Kawthankar on Tuesday responded sharply to BJP’s criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Shakti’ remark. Kawthankar pointed out that the saffron party, which failed to address cases of sexual harassment against women wrestlers by their MP Brij Bhushan, lacks the moral authority to comment on women’s empowerment.
 

He questioned the silence of BJP leaders regarding incidents like the gangrape and murder of Dalit women by a BJP legislator in Uttar Pradesh, as well as the brutal assault on women in Manipur. “BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavde should establish a three-member committee, including himself, party leaders Sankalp Amonkar and Milind Naik. Earlier, Amonkar had accused Naik of sexually exploiting a woman. After the allegations, BJP shielded Naik and gave him the party ticket to contest the polls. Subsequently, the same woman filed a complaint against Amonkar, accusing him of tarnishing her name. So let these three leaders sit and have a detailed discussion and determine who is against Nari Shakti,” Kawthankar said.
