May Our Goa See A Tranquil Kew Garden - By Aires Rodrigues
My visit to Europe was very amazing and a real eye opener. The interaction with my Goan brothers and sisters was so heartwarming. In those few days it gave me an opportunity to meet and converse with my fellow Goans while feeling their pulse and understanding their feelings. The time was so short, but it was my endeavour to meet up and interface with as many people as possible.

While in London and with a desire to spend some time reflecting in the tranquillity and solace of the wilderness, I was very fortunate to spend an entire afternoon at the sprawling Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the world’s largest collection of living plants. Those hours were mind boggling with every inch of that immaculate garden brimming with a rich diversity of flora and fauna and eco systems from all over the world and infrastructure from incredibly built glass houses to a palace and the palm house.

While I walked through the gardens for several hours, the deep anguish within me was, a question as to why we couldn’t have such a garden set up in our extremely resourceful Goa and why the ones that we inherited are poorly maintained and uncared for. Regrettably, we may never find the answer. What is certain is that Goa needs an innovative, green and educational oasis like Kew Gardens, not more concrete jungle eyesores.

May we hope that the resolve of our political leaders who go on trips abroad will be to replicate one spectacular thing they see onto our fertile soil. Let us hope and be optimistic.

The people in Europe are civilized, whereas in Goa they are not, especially the migrants. Even, if by chance they build one, it will be a "white elephant" just like the multi storied car park built at Panjim, near Patto.

Nah, wont happen in Goa
If the garden was relocated to Goa there would be 3 groups of people
1) 1/3 would be our Catlick Niz Goenkars, the bhatkars of which will covert and sell all their lands, to Delhi Ghatti builders. To build huge buildings of concrete. The common Niz Goenkar Catlick man fed up with these buildings, population explosion, ghattis, pollution and poor paying jobs would flee to Nondon, the imaginary garden of Eden
2) The marathi bahujan rats or vermin, would sneak in, build a statue (pop) of undir Shivajoi (pop)ot and claim he freed or even better, he built this garden. They would then open stalls outside and become posorkars while making 1000 Govt jobs to 'maintain' this garden, which will be filled by them, even better Baba Rane's ilk from Sattari. Maintain or Govt job is = turn up late for work, with handover, play cards, smoke or chew tobacco of khaini and fart in dhoti all day, leave at 4 pm
3) 3rd Will be ghattis from Karnataka and non Maharashtra, would would build slums and %hit all over the place. The kumao operators will be dukors such as Kargil Reginaldo or Goa Protector Ruddolf or Jinga Mami Lamani Lobo

Lastly, not to be missed, Bab Aires will be the social activist in this garden. Filing cases and then withdrawing them, in true Chri$tian spirit
