Calangute: An senior citizen, identified as Deodita Fernandes, was allegedly murdered on Thursday in an apartment at Calangute. The local police said that Fernandes, 64, a resident of Caraswaddo, Mapusa, was found dead in suspicious circumstances late Thursday night after she had gone to her flat in a building at Naika Vaddo, Calangute, on Thursday afternoon.
She had recently got the flat painted. However, when she did not return home to Mapusa till late in the night, her sister informed the caretaker of the flat as she was not taking her calls. The caretaker reached the flat and found its door locked. Later, when they opened the flat using a duplicate key, Fernandes was found dead in the dining hall. Her purse and mobile phone were missing. The family then informed the police about the incident.
Fernandes was reportedly suffering from cancer. A thorough examination of the flat revealed that all belongings were intact, except for the deceased’s wallet and mobile phone, which were missing. The police conducted an inquest and transferred the body to Goa Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Her body was sent to the GMC for a postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. The case was registered as a murder by the Calangute police on Friday night. Further investigations are on.
According to police reports, Fernandes, a resident of Caraswaddo, Mapusa, owned a flat on the third floor of the Benson building in Naikavaddo, Calangute. “We have registered a case of murder, but the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report is received,” stated Vishwesh Karpe, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Porvorim. The Calangute Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Fernandes’ death.

Note that this murder is still not the worst crime that took place in Goa this year. Goa doesn't have Magic Dirt, ghanttis are to be avoided as much as possible:

This case has been cracked by our cops. Both the accused are from Maharashtra. One of them was victim's neighbour, would often run errands for the victim, also won her confidence and managed to get her UPI account number. The accused were apprehended when they transferred money from the victim's bank account using a mobile payment app on her robbef phone.
Plse don't trust these ghanttis and ne er give them confidence.

All the outsiders/migrants entering GOA via N/S/E/W borders especially by road, goa govt must take their Aadhaar / pan/ election card photo copy with signature as a proof of identification in case things happen like this police can easily trace them , Goa has become another drug state, where one can get drugs easily . Goa was not like this before this is all happening under BJP govt.

It's high time that the police start checking the police verification form. The police team should be deployed only for the same purpose. Every time the assembly passes the resolution and no action has been taken. We as a citizen we request honourable CM to look into matter and reduce the crime rate.

What is happening in Goa? Every other day murders, robberies are taking place. In Goa we see only migrants. They do some crime and then run away. If they are coming for work then after they finish they should be sent back home but no next time they come with their whole family and settle in Goa and then they say we are Goans. Very sad to see the sad state of Goa.
