Rope In Interpol To Investigate Frauds In Processing Of Portuguese Passport - By Stephen Dias
Let Interpol verify every Portuguese passport holder for the authenticity of their documentation at every country and airport in the world and imprison everyone with fake documentation and for impersonation.

The nexus of the Portuguese passport issuing authorities in Lisbon, the Apostille in India and the connivance of the Registrars of various talukas in Goa as well as in Daman, Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli has to be probed by the Interpol in order to unearth the dark side of acquisition of Portuguese passports by dubious and highly corrupt officials that has caused immense damage to the Portuguese authorities with the connivance of Indian authorities as far as Apostille was concerned which was initially attested in New Delhi and now has an office in Goa for recognition of authenticity of documents of Goa Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Besides forged documents made in Goa of people that were not of Goan origin as well as several hundred of impersonation of dead people, it was known that impersonators used to visit cemeteries and find out the date of birth and the names of those dead people obtain their Birth Teors or Registos de Nascimento and then apply by making forged documents with their photographs as impersonators of those dead people. This writer has seen three forged documents.

One, a Registo de Nascimento of the year 1955 obtained by a Karnataka resident with the duly forged signature of the Registrar at that time. Also, a Certidão Narrativa as well as Boletim de Nascimento that was made in Goa by using old forms that were even torn at places but the documents were typed with new typewriter ribbon and thus could have detected as fake. The Portuguese authorities did not make an honest attempt to curb the proliferation of fake documents and it may be doubted that few corrupt and complicit officials connived or were unaware of the existence of forged documents and impersonation.

Even the most trusted notaries in Goa were not been able to distinguish the authenticity of fake documents and this writer is in the know of one document (Registo de Nascimento of 1955) and attested by renowned notary known for his integrity. It would be in the fitness of things to investigate this fake racket that has become the nemesis of the gullible and the disgrace of all those involved in this fraud. It should also be investigated why reliable Church complimentary residence and identity certificates being produced earlier were discontinued while Panchayat certificates only were allowed for Apostille without verification. Needs to be investigated the entire nexus.

Is looks that the Indian government only interested in boosting the finances of the sagging PSBs into which Portuguese passport holders are repatriating back to India? Goans who have registered their births in Portugal (Assento de Nascimento) are going to be aliens in their own land.

Yes all those with fake documents and perpetrators should face justice. In December 1961 Goa was done, but Portugal did not abandon Goans. Now who is benefitting from this chicanery of fake documents and passports are those who came forcefully into our land.
