The prevalent deep-rooted Corruption is the one single major impediment to Goa’s progress and prosperity. The rise from Rags to Riches by most of our politicians says it all. The evil of corruption stems out from the Panchayat level through the Municipalities cruising to the Zilla Panchayats and topping up at the Secretariat in Porvorim. None other than the then articulate Governor Satya Pal Malik had publicly stated that the Pramod Sawant Sawant government was very corrupt.

 

So, the battle against corruption has to begin from the Chief Minister and flow to the grassroots. If not for corruption, how could Pramod Sawant have amassed so much wealth and property so swiftly? Maybe the Chief Minister could enlighten us on the source of this, his mega windfall.

 

Unless the Chief Minister himself leads by example and shuns corruption it may be a battle in vain. Pramod Sawant could set an example by voluntarily surrendering to the State exchequer all his ill- acquired wealth besides demanding that his cabinet colleagues and MLAs also do the same. It would be a proud moment for Goa and put our State on a high pedestal of political morality while leading the nation from a clean platform that politics is a mission and not a business venture. Serving society and not enriching ourselves being the motto. It would be a noble way for Chief Minister Pramod Sawnt to usher in 2023.
