HGV Are Now Prohibited From Banastarim Bridge To Mercês Circle Roads
Tuesday - Dec 27, 2022
Panjim: North Goa collector Mamu Hage on Monday issued an order prohibiting the movement of heavy vehicles from the Banastarim bridge to Mercês circle between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m. until January 5, 2023. The decision was made as a result of the regular traffic jams caused by heavy trucks entering the city during rush hours and the Ponda side arm of the Atal Setu being closed as the bridge deck is being rectified.

According to the directive, heavy trucks would be prohibited for ten hours, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Banastarim bridge is used by a lot of heavy vehicles to reach the city, which leads to chaos near Mercês circle. The Collector issued the order after receiving a request from the traffic police superintendent prohibiting the use of large and multi-axle trucks on NH748 between Banastarim bridge and Mercês circle during the rush hours.
