SIT To Probe Land Grabbing By Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar
Panjim: Goa’s Director General of Police Jaspal Singh has directed the Special Investigation Team at the Crime Branch to probe the complaint against Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar of having grabbed land admeasuring 1,48,800.00 sq. mtrs situated at Village Dhargal in Pernem of which Mapusa based Rawloo Khalap currently residing in California is a co-owner. The FIR registered against Jit Arolkar will be investigated by Crime Branch Police Inspector Suraj Samant under the supervision of SP Crime Nidhin Valsan. Adv. Aires Rodrigues on 4th July this year had filed a complaint on behalf of Rawloo Khalap with the Crime Branch giving details of the land grabbing by the Mandrem MLA. Jit Arolkar in March this year was elected on a MGP ticket and is now supporting the ruling government having been appointed as Chairman of the Goa Housing Board.

On 26th September, Adv. Rodrigues along with Rawloo Khalap had met DGP Jaspal Singh and sought his intervention in the matter.  Adv. Aires Rodrigues in his complaint had stated that Jit Arolkar grabbed the land and created over 200 plots in the property while illegally and fraudulently executing sale deeds with third parties and selling the entire property in connivance with Pernem revenue officials.

Adv. Rodrigues in his complaint had further alleged that Jit Arolkar in gross violation of law with political patronage and funds allegedly generated through land scams had also funded and constructed tar roads illegally connecting to the village road and electricity poles were installed unlawfully while no action had been taken by the Electricity department and the PWD. Adv. Rodrigues in his complaint further drew the attention of the Crime Branch that Jit Arolkar had also reportedly illegally created number of small plots in the adjacent property belonging to an elderly widow and in defiance of law had similarly illegally and fraudulently sold them to various parties by executing similar devious sale deeds.

Adv. Rodrigues on 2nd December in a complaint filed before the Enforcement Directorate, CBI and the Income Tax Commissioner urged the authorities to probe the Tax fraud, Disproportionate assets and money laundering by Jit Arolkar.  Adv. Rodrigues in his complaint drew the attention of the authorities that Jit Arolkar had in 2001 joined the Goa Police as a constable only to quit within a decade possibly after making a huge fortune on land scams and money laundering. Adv. Rodrigues along with his complaint gave the authorities a copy of the affidavit filed by Jit Arolkar on 28th January this year before the returning officer along with his nomination papers for the Mandrem Assembly Constituency which clearly reveals that Jit Arolkar had blatantly amassed very huge wealth way beyond his known sources of income.
