Panjim: The special Air India One aircraft of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land at the new Mopa airport in Pernem taluka on December 11, and the Prime Minister will inaugurate the airport on the same day, before his return journey to New Delhi. Coming out with this information, state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Sadanand Tanawade told ‘The Navhind Times’ on Saturday evening that the Prime Minister’s flight would be the first aircraft to officially land at the North Goa airport, post-trial period of the airport.

 

Earlier, Tanawade along with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the meeting of state office-bearers, besides prominent workers and supporters of the BJP at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall in the city, where the particular news was revealed. The meeting also discussed the preparations in view of the Prime Minister’s visit. The state BJP unit has also requested the Centre to name the Mopa airport after former chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

 

Tanawade said that Modi will land at the Mopa airport and travel by a helicopter to the helipad at the Goa University premises.“Modi ji will then attend the concluding function of the World Ayurveda Congress at the Kala Academy complex,” he disclosed. The World Ayurveda Congress will be held in the city from December 8. The Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate the All-India Institute of Ayurveda at Dhargal in Pernem taluka, along with two other projects.
