Panjim: Forest Minister and Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday said that the forest department will go to great lengths to obtain approvals at the state and national level for construction of Chorovnnem dam in Satari taluka. He said that this dam will be the lifeline for the people of Thane panchayat area in particular and Satari taluka as a whole. “We will collaborate with the Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar and the team of WRD, and forest department, and whatever needs to be done at the state level will be done under the leadership of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to make this dream a reality, which was envisioned by Pratapsingh Raoji Rane when he was Chief Minister of the state,” he added.

 

Rane said that Chorovnnem dam will help in providing 24/7 water supply to the people, ensure that the irrigation activities are on track and meet the agricultural purposes. “People who oppose this are unaware of the reality; it is the people of Satari and Thane panchayat who are making the decision, not activists or NGOs who are unfamiliar with the c1oncerns of the people or understand the importance of increasing agricultural land. Just by being a mere activist without any knowledge of what people wants is not something we are going to tolerate,” he warned.

 

The Minister said under the leadership of Pramod Sawant, the people of Satari and himself and Poriem MLA Dr. Deviya Rane will ensure that the project becomes a reality.
